Starting from the Meadow Creek Trailhead near Dillon Reservoir, this hike explores a scenic mountain corridor where forests, wetlands, and open meadows create a diverse high-country setting. The route travels through a landscape shaped by glacial valleys and alpine weather, with sections of shaded forest alternating with open areas that reveal sweeping views toward the Tenmile Range and Gore Range. Expect a varied trail experience, including gently rolling terrain, rocky stretches, creek-side passages, and sections that climb gradually through the surrounding wilderness. Beyond the physical challenge, the trail provides a chance to experience the quieter side of Summit County, where expansive mountain panoramas, wildflower-filled meadows, and the changing character of the terrain make the journey as rewarding as the destination. We'll find a sunny, comfortable spot to have a snack/lunch. Our pace will be consistent with completing this hike in a reasonable amount of time. Overall ~8.5 miles and ~2250 ft elevation gain.
