BPX Trip – BPX 3-Day: Colorado Trail - Segment 6 from the Kenosha Pass West TH

This trip is for BPX members. Come enjoy the longest segment of the Colorado Trail in early fall. For trip details, see the trip Route & Place description and the Leader's Notes. I will send participants more info and coordinate carpooling approximately 2-3 weeks before the trip.

  • Fri, Sep 4, 2026 — Sun, Sep 6, 2026

  • Adults
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 31.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,384 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 11,878 ft
  • Pace: 2.5 mph

This will be a beautiful but challenging trip due to the elevation gain and significant distances. Because of the shorter days in September, trip pace will need to be moderate to fast (2.0 - 2.5 mph) with few breaks. Backpacking school badge or equivalent experience is required; either way please contact me for approval before registering. (If you register without contacting me first, I will remove you from the roster until we've had a chance to connect.)

This is a shuttle trip; it will require an early start, several vehicles, and a lot of driving time to get cars into position. If you've been stuck at Section 6 of the Colorado Trail due to the shuttling logistics, now is your chance to get through it! We will need at least 2 vehicles, but shuttle logistics may be slightly easier with 3 drivers. We will work out carpooling about 2-3 weeks ahead of the trip.

Meet at CMC base camp for carpooling. Departure time will be coordinated closer to the trip date but will likely be around 6 AM due to the time required to shuttle cars.
