BPX Trip – BPX 3-Day: Eccles Pass from Meadow Creek TH
A two-night, three-day trip into the beautiful and rugged Eagles Nest Wilderness. After setting up a base camp, our group will have an opportunity to explore the high alpine area around Eccles Pass, with the potential climb of 12er Buffalo Mountain or possibly 13er Red Peak.

The first day's hike to base camp is approximately 4.3 miles with 2,271 feet of elevation gain. After establishing base camp, we may hike an additional 2 miles round trip with 530' of elevation gain to some nearby lakes that may offer some fishing.
Weather permitting, on day two we may attempt to summit Buffalo Mountain (12,900') or Red Peak (13,136') after climbing Eccles Pass. These would be exploratory hikes and may require crossing rugged terrain to reach these peaks.
The hike to Red Peak from our base camp is approximately 7.2 miles round trip, with 2,279' of elevation gain.
The hike to Buffalo Mountain from our base camp is approximately 5.4 miles round trip with 2,032' of elevation gain.
To be determined at a later date, depending upon the location of those who sign up. The trip leader will be in Silverthorne the night before the trip, so a separate carpool may be required for those coming from Denver.
