BPX Trip – RMNP - Bear Lake TH

The Moraine Park Campground is relatively rustic (no electricity at these sites nor showers, but there's a private stall where you can use your own solar shower) but was recently updated by the NPS.  It's located in a beautiful setting on the north side of Moraine Park with nice views of Longs Peak and surrounding mountains.  This location should be good for witnessing/hearing the seasonal elk rut (mating ritual).  Other wildlife will be milling about as well.  There might be opportunities for wildlife photography.

We'll hike 2-3 different trails from the Bear Lake Trailhead and/or the Glacier Gorge Trailhead.  The free Bear Lake shuttle bus will pick us up at the campground and drop off / pick up at the trailheads.

Some suggested hikes:  Loch Vale / Timberline Falls; Flattop Mtn; Black Lake; Emerald Lake; Odessa Lake; Cub Lake.

Campers do NOT have to get timed-entry permits to enter the park, but there is still a per-car entrance fee; annual/lifetime Federal Lands passes are accepted (but State Park passes are not).

All participants will pay their share of the campsite fee and mileage cost if carpooling.

I've reserved 2 campsites.  Each will accommodate only 2 tents, though.  It would be great if participants brought larger tents (2 or 3 person) to share with one other group member so we can accommodate more than 2 people per site (but this isn't a requirement).
