Trip
Camp – Silver Jack Campground
This is a three night camping trip in a beautiful alpine setting 26 miles northeast of Ridgeway. It is remote, non-reservable, and has NO cell service. There are hiking trails leading from the campground. It also has a beautiful reservoir for more excitement and relaxation. We will be camping for three nights from Tuesday, August 18th with a checkout date of Friday, August 21st.

We will decide upon hikes once we get there. Look for the leader in the Ouray Loop. Due to the remoteness and the fact that there is no cell service, the hikes will only be for campers and will not be posted ahead of time. We will hike on the 19th and 20th on trails leading from the campground.
Without the ability to communicate the leader's precise location beforehand, this camping trip is best suited for Western Slope members.
The leader will plan to arrive by 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 18th in the Ouray Loop. More information will be provided at a later time.
There are two approaches to get to Silver Jack. One way is over Owl Creek Pass and the other way is from Cimarron on a forest service road (858) for about 22 miles. This is a gravel road with washboard. There are two loops in the Silver Jack Campground with individual sites. These are first come, first serve. We will NOT be camping in the group campsite. The leader will try and get into the Ouray Loop with an electric site. Usually, there is room for all campers who want an individual site. There is also free disbursed camping nearby.
The sites are $30 per night for electric; $20 per night for non-electric. Don't forget your checkbook or cash! And don't forget your watercraft if you have it. We will have plenty of time to relax on the water in this non-CMC activity.

Required Equipment
Expect to be self-contained with your camping unit with food and the ability to prepare it. There are vaulted toilets, water faucets, and picnic tables. This is bear country so be prepared for that whole thing. Don't forget your rain gear and backpack!
