The Class: Casting an efficient loop is fundamental to effective fly fishing and helps to avoid frustration on the water. This 90-minute casting class will provide recent CMC fly fishing school graduates with a review of the Pickup and Lay Down (PULD) cast, and the roll cast, two of the most fundamental and everyday casts used in fly fishing.  Participants will come away with a new tool or two in their “casting tool box” and be more prepared and confident for fly fishing as summer approaches.

How to prepare:  Review the casting sections of your CMC FF handbook. Have a small piece of fly fishing “egg yarn” or suitable material tied securely to the end of your 0 or 1X 7.5 nylon leader.  Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to get set up to cast. Be familiar with the casting terms: loop, PULD, roll cast, rotation, casting arc and casting stroke.
