Long Gulch to Rock Creek is an 8 mile hike with an elevation of about 850 ft. along the Colorado Trail in the Lost Wilderness area. We will pass through aspen trees and bristlecone pines.

We will meet at the Fort restaurant (19192 Highway 8, Morrison) at 6:30 with a 6:40 departure time. We will make a short comfort stop at the Loaf n Jug on CR 43. We will start hiking between 8:30 and 8:40. This hike is a car shuttle, we will leave one car at the Rock Creek Trailhead as we pass that on Lost Park Road.

If you plan to meet us at the trailhead, travel west on 285 past the summit of Kenosha Pass. Turn left onto Lost Park Road which is about 3.2 miles past Kenosha pass summit. Follow this road for about 11 miles and look for a gully on the left side of the road marked FS RD 817. Drive or walk up this road for 0.1 mile to its end at the very small Long Gulch Trailhead. Walk a short distance up to the Forest Service register. Angle slightly to the right and follow the access trail to its intersection with the Colorado Trail.

Bring water and snacks as we will stop for a lunch break about 1/2 way. Don't forget your 10 essentials and possibly hiking poles. Most of the trip is in the trees, but rain gear is always a must.
