Hiking – Genesee Park - Chavez and Beaver Brook Trail Loop

This is a relatively easy hike through shaded forest, along a river for most of the way. The trail loop is about 5.1 miles long with an elevation gain of 1,122 feet.

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 5.1 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,122 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 7,590 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 - 2.2

Unlike most of the hikes along the Front Range, this doesn’t have those sweeping mountain & foothill views. In fact, it feels more like the northeast than it does Colorado. You’re hiking through shaded forest, along a river for most of the way. We go down one way of the loop and up on the other side of the loop. the trail features several stream crossings, but given our dry conditions they shouldn't be bad. There are also exposed rock faces, and narrow trail conditions, many of which are compounded by poor trail signage.  Visitors will be also be scuttling over large rocks on the trail, wet rocks at stream crossings, fallen trees, and hillsides with rocky footing. The hike should take about 2.5 - 3 hours, depending on the group.

We don’t have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip.
