We will hike to this unique geological area, and weather permitting climb hike old roads to above tree line, and to the old mill site.

We will drive hwy 285 to Grant CO, then turn right and drive up 10 mi approx up Guenella Pass Rd. We will park at the Shelf Lake trhd parking lot. This is a rough road, but a Subaru & Rav 4 can make it to the parking lot. Drive to trailhead is approx 2 hr including driving the dirt rd. We will be walking dirt rd, except for about 1/4 mi we will bushwack steeply up hill from 1 road to another.
7 AM, Wed 8/16 The Fort, park at the far, north end of parking area on the street. DO NOT DRIVE INTO THE FORT RESTAURANT PARKING LOT.
