On this discovery hike to the Geneva Creek Iron Fens, the group will explore one of Colorado’s rarest wetland ecosystems, where mineral-rich springs create striking rust-colored terraces and support unusual plant communities found in few other places on Earth. We'll find a comfortable spot for lunch/snack. We'll explore an alternate return route to the cars. Our pace will be consistent with completing this hike in a reasonable amount of time. We'll carpool to the Shelf Lake TH parking lot (Shelf Lake Trailhead - Google Maps)
If road conditions are good, we will drive and park further up Geneva Creek Rd
