This route takes us from Guanella Pass along the Rosalie Trail on a steady incline until we reach Geneva Mountain. The trail is pretty exposed. This hike begins on trail and is somewhat flat and meandering through alpine terrain.  Upon approaching the first false summit the trail disappears. The destination requires  minimal route finding since the peak is within view;  however, some areas of the mountain harbor shrubbery and willows that require winding one's way through.  I'm not sure how much snow we'll encounter.

I don't think parking should be an issue on a Wednesday, but there will be lots of people hiking up Bierstadt before we arrive. Overflow parking is allowed on one side of the Guanella Pass Road, but the Clear Creek County Sheriff strictly enforces a no-parking rule if any part of your tire is touching the asphalt. A ticket for this will cost you $87.

This is a CMC Bobcats trip, but everyone is welcome. The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of adventurous CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long. Our trips tend to be faster-paced, on more challenging routes, and with fewer stops. We foster a strong community of hikers seeking challenge, discovery, and camaraderie. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. (For more information on the Bobcats section see https://www.cmc.org/groups-sections/special-interest-sections/bobcats-section)

We will meet at Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride, section BB, across from the Exxon gas station, at 6:30 am so we can form carpools for the drive to the trailhead. We will leave no later than 6:35.  Here’s a Google Maps link to Wooly Mammoth: Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride · 18560 US-40, Golden, CO 80401
