Join us for a fun day hiking along the scenic Homer Rouse trail near Estes Park up to beautiful Lily Lake, where we will have a quick snack before heading around the lake and up a short, but steep climb to the Jurassic Park rock climbing area. Here we will have a chance to watch climbers test their skills on this amazing "Edge of Time" rock as we take in the great views. We will ascend to Lily Lake where we will have our lunch break before hiking back to the trailhead. The views along the trail are panoramic before hiking back through the pretty woods. The trail was named in honor of Homer Rouse, a national park superintendent who was especially well-liked for his many contributions to the National Park Service over his 37-year career. We will carpool back to the Visitor Center.
There are two meeting locations, depending upon where you are coming from: 1) JAX parking lot (SE edge), 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland at 7:30 a.m. to carpool from, OR 2) Estes Park Visitor Center (far NE corner of parking lot off Hwy. 34), 500 Big Thompson Ave. at 8:15 a.m. Restrooms available. We will carpool to the Homer Rouse trailhead a few miles south. PLEASE call, text or email Anita Wright with which location you will meet the group at (970-222-5920 or adwright2001@yahoo.com).
