Hiking – James Peak Wilderness Area
Four 13ers - James Peak, Mount Bancroft, Parry Peak and Mount Eva. 10+ miles, 3,000' at a sustained pace, although be prepared for 15+m and 4,000'+ possibly adding Mount Flora and/or the lakes. Atypical access from the East, Rollinsville, Kingston Peak side via 4x4.

We will be taking the route marked JBPE, but also may decide to add on the Lake Route and/or Mount Flora.

I am not a guide, you are expected to have independently reviewed the route and weather and to actively participate in navigation and decision making. There is no defined trail from St James to Flora, although it may be cairned in spots and many have traversed this section, typically from the opposite direction. Please make note of the areas requiring scrambling and with exposure. This should all be within your skill and comfort zone.
0515 People's Crossing
We will drive in ~8miles on 4x4 roads to the TH, marked as Mammoth Gulch/Kington Peak on the route: From Rollinsville on Colorado Highway 119, turn west onto County Road 16 head and west for approximately five miles. At the town of Tolland, turn left onto Mammoth Gulch (County Road 4N). After 3.5 miles take a right onto National Forest System Road 353. This is a rough, native surface road not plowed in the winter and only high clearance vehicles with 4WD are recommended. Follow NFSR 353 west for 3.3 miles to James Peak Lake Trailhead.
One additional 4x4/high clearance vehicle and driver required capable of navigating Kingston Peak Road FR353.1
Required Equipment
Ten essentials and what you need to care for yourself for 8+ hours in varying conditions. Although there is the possibility of water enroute, we may opt to not take those routes, so plan to carry all you need for the day.
