The lollipop loops starts on a mostly forested trail before coming to a junction. At the junction we will turn left to follow the Lovell Gulch Trail clockwise. The trail in the first part of the loop is in the trees and is hilly before reaching a more wide open ridge where the terrain is rolling before descending back into the trees on a rolling terrain trail and returning back to the trail junction and trailhead. We will plan to stop somewhere on the ridge for a snack and extended water break before returning to the trailhead.

If I have not had the pleasure of hiking with you before, please email me before 6pm on Thursday April 9th to share what type of hikes you have done within the last two months and any medical condition I should be aware of (e.g. diabetes, asthma, heart condition, troublesome orthopedic condition).

I will email a detailed weather forecast and any modifications for recommended gear or start times in the afternoon or early evening of Friday, April 10th to participants that are registered for the hike. Please keep an eye out for the email.

Due to a forecast of possible rain and a spring afternoon thunderstorm, we will be leaving earlier from Pueblo.  Pueblo participants will meet at the Southeast corner of Albertson's Parking lot at 1601 Hwy 50, Pueblo, 81008 for a 7 am departure, Colorado Springs participants will meet at the Safeway near Old Colorado City at 3275 West Colorado Avenue for a 7:55 am departure and participants nearer to Woodland Park will meet at the Lovell Gulch Trailhead for an 8:25 am departure. If there is interest in the group, we will stop for an after hike celebratory libation and/or meal. The hike starts and ends at the trailhead.
