This hike is to the summit of Mt. Garfield, one of the most prominent geological features in the Grand Junction area and the highest point in the Bookcliffs formation. The route to the summit is a steep 2 mile, 2,000 foot ascent.  From the summit you will have a 360 view that includes the Grand Valley, the Grand Mesa and Bookcliffs. 
The hike includes steep slopes and some exposed terrain.
Hike may be cancel due to inclement weather.

We will be meeting at the trailhead a 9:00 am.  From interstate 70, take exit 42 head south on 37 3/10 road for 0.15 miles, turn right onto G 7/10 Road for approximately 1.6 miles to the trailhead. Note that G 7/10 road makes a sharp turn that goes through a narrow underpass under the freeway.
