  • Sat, May 23, 2026
  • Bobcats Section
  • Hiking
  • Adults
  • Difficult
  • Mileage: 7.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,995 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 13,933 ft
  • Pace: Moderate 2-2.5mph (slower on steeper slopes)

The goal would be to summit both Mount Hope (13,933) and Quail Mountain (13,461), hikers must be able to to keep a moderate pace (2mph on the less steeper slopes - obviously much slower for the final ascent.) This hike will include class 2 scramble and parts of this hike will be off trail with route finding involved - hence the mileage could be more than anticipated.

This hike is not for beginners.

Leader will bring her dog, MUST get permission from leader if you plan to bring your dog. This is a very hard hike for a dog, and pre-screening is essential for your and your dog’s safety. If you show up with your dog without permission, you will not be able to join the group. This is not a "doggie-hike". Only experienced and well conditioned dogs will be considered, and only if the handler is carrying a rescue harness for the dog and is willing to carry the dog out if needed.

Meet at the Sheep Gulch trailhead at 7am for a 7:15 start.
