Hike a 6-mile "lollipop" loop beginning at the Black Bear Trailhead parking lot in Mueller State Park.

We’ll hike along the road from the Black Bear Trailhead trailhead to the Grouse Mountain Trail, then north to Cheesman Ranch Trail, continue north and east to the second intersection with the Buffalo Rock Trail loop, south on Buffalo Rock to Moonshine Trail, back to the southern part of the Cheesman Ranch loop, finally back to the Grouse Mountain and Black Bear Trailheads. This is an “upside down” loop with 800 feet of elevation gain mostly on the way out. Expect snow and ice especially in shady areas. This will be an easy to moderate hike depending on trail conditions.
If participants desire we may stop for post-hike libation.
Pueblo participants will meet at the southeast corner of Albertson's Parking lot at 1601 Hwy 50, Pueblo, 81008 for a 7:30 am departure. Colorado Springs participants will meet at the northeast corner of the Walmart parking lot at 19600 US-24, Woodland Park, CO 80863 for an 8:30 departure, or at the trailhead at 9:00. Note that a Colorado Parks Pass is required for all vehicles entering the park.
