This is the standard route to the top of Columbia. The trailhead is at about 9880 feet.  A map of our routes can be found here.

The hike will start at the North Cottonwood Creek Trailhead, twelve miles west of the town of Buena Vista. The start time of 7 AM is the moment we will leave Buena Vista for the trailhead.

You may elect to drive from the Denver area the day either trip, and return the day of either trip, or stay in or near Buena Vista. Because of the difficulty of the hike, it is highly recommended that you stay in or near Buena Vista either the night before or the night after the hike, or both.
