We will enjoy this scenic 5.3 mile loop hike in the Ramsay-Shockey Open Space on the west side of Pinewood Reservoir.  We will begin our hike in the forest on the Shoshone trail, where we will get to do a little scramble to a wonderful overlook of this scenic valley.  Then, we will continue on to connect with the Besant trail and follow it to the south end of the reservoir.  After a quick snack break, we will head back north on the Besant trail and around Fisherman Cove, before hiking back to the TH on the east side of the reservoir.  From here, we will drive 10 minutes back to the visitor center, where you may choose to drive 5 minutes away for a lunch outdoors at the Windjammer Bar & Grill near Carter Lake (indoors if poor weather).  Following a fun lunch here, we will carpool back to Loveland and Ft. Collins.   Please bring your essentials, water, snack, raingear, insect repellant, and sturdy boots.

There are 3 meeting locations, depending on where you are coming from:  1) JJ's Corner Store, 4015 S. Taft Hill Rd, Ft. Collins (SE edge of lot) at 8:00 am,  2) JAX parking lot, 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd. (SE edge of lot) at 8:20 am, and 3) Larimer County Natural Res. Dept. Visitor Center, 1800 S. Co.Rd. 31 at 8:45 am.    We will carpool from this visitor center up to Pinewood Reservoir (Larimer County parks pass required).
