Hiking – RMNP - Wind River Loop

Follow the Wind River Trail in RMNP through aspens and pines to beautiful Sprague Lake, then the Storm Pass Trail, returning to the East Portal TH along the Glacier Creek Trail on this pretty 5.5 mile, 1,100' gain loop hike.

Beginning at the East Portal to RMNP, this pretty fall 5.5 mile, 1,100' gain loop hike follows the Wind River trail in RMNP through golden aspens and pines to beautiful Sprague Lake, where we will enjoy lunch.  We may be able to spot moose, elk or wild turkeys on this great fall loop trail.  Then, we will return to the TH along the Glacier Creek trail, and carpool back to the visitor center. 

 

There are three meeting locations, depending upon where you are coming from:  1) JJ's Corner Store, 4015 S. Taft Hill Rd., Ft. Collins, at 7:15 a.m., 2) JAX parking lot (SE edge) at 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland at 7:30 a.m. to carpool, OR 3) RMNP Beaver Meadows Visitor Center (west end of lot) at 1000 U.S. Hwy 36 at 8:30 a.m.  From here, we will carpool to the TH (limited parking).  PLEASE text, email, or call Anita Wright (970-222-5920 or adwright2001@yahoo.com) to let us know which meeting location you will be at.

Bring your essentials, water, lunch, sturdy hiking boots, and raingear.  No RMNP is necessary.  Rideshare from JAX is $10.
