Lion Lakes 1,2 and Snowbank are in the Wild Basin area of RMNP, The most southern part of the park. We will start the hike from the Wild Basin TH- 2 miles down a dirt rd. from the pay station, From the Wild Basin Trail we will follow the Thunder Lake trail for 4.5 miles to the Lion Lake Trail. Then we will climb northwest into the heart of Wild Basin.The trail meanders through forest and marsh for 1.75 miles to Lion Lake 1.Lion Lake 2 is a tarn that rises above Lion Lake 1.From Lion Lake 1 you get a great view of Chiefs Head and Mt. Alice.Snowbank Lake is surround by short granite walls and sits on a shelf above Lion Lakre 2.
