This is a CMC Bobcats trip. The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don't have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting Bobcats Section in the CMC Trip Calendar pull-down menu. We send out a monthly email to our members with all the coming month's trips, just after those trips are activated. To join our free mailing list and become a member, select the "Bobcats Section" anytime in your Member Profile (Log-in >Members > My Membership > Member Profile).
This is the first of two hikes in the Leadville / Buena Vista area over the weekend Aug 27 - 28. The leaders will be in Leadville, there are hotels in Leadville and Buena Vista, as well as some camping areas nearby.
We will meet at the Willis Gulch Trailhead at 7:00 am. Here is a link to the location in Google Maps

If you come from Wooly Mammoth Parking Lot, it will take about 2 hours to drive to Willis Gulch trailhead via I-70.
We will start near Twin Lakes at the Willis Gulch Trailhead, and join the Continental Divide Trail up LIttle Willis Gulch to Hope Pass at 12,508. We'll have lunch at the pass which is between Mt Hope (13,933) and Quail Mtn (13,461). We will return to the trailhead the same way we came. This route is part of the famous Leadville 100 mile running race - imagine doing this pass when you've already run over 40 miles!
Required Equipment
Bring the 10 essentials and be prepared for some mud on the trail and windy conditions above treeline.
