The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don't have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting "Bobcats Section" in the CMC Trip Calendar Section pull-down menu. We email a monthly newsletter to our members with all the coming month's trips, just after those trips are activated. To join our free mailing list and become a member, select the Bobcats Section anytime in your Member Profile.
We will meet at the Coors Tek Center parking lot (610 10th Street, Golden CO 80401) a few minutes before 6:00 am for a 6:00 am departure. This parking lot is across Jackson street from the CMC offices.
Covid Precautions - check latest in effect re carpools, masks and social distance between hikers - https://www.cmc.org/COVID-19andCMCProgramming.
Please note that there is a $12 fee (per car) to enter Brainard Lake Recreation Area if you don't have a National Parks Pass. If you have a pass, please bring it. In addition, there are timed entry permits for parking at the Long Lake Trailhead. Several volunteers will be needed to help obtain these permits. Round trip driving distance is 90 miles from the Coors Tek Center, which corresponds to $27 to be divided among the driver and passengers of the car for gas.
We head up the Long Lake Trail to Lake Isabell, then proceed up to Pawnee Pass. From there we head up to the ridge, and follow the ridge to Pawnee Peak.
Required Equipment
Bring the 10 essentials and be prepared for occasional mud on the trail, as well as windy conditions above treeline.
