Intermediate Snowshoe – Niwot Mountain

From the Brainard Lake Winter Rec Parking Lot we will snowshoe to around 11,000' on the flank of Niwot Mountain. The views are amazing and we will have them non-stop for the last 1/2 mile of climbing. This is one of my absolute favorite snowshoes!!! Please read Leader's Notes Below. This Snowshoe is for Rocky Mountain Over The Hill Gang Members Only.

We will leave Left Hand Reservoir Road and follow the Caltopo Winter Route which goes around an old quarry, there are amazing views at the top of the quarry.  If the snow is just too crazy deep, we may stop here or go to Left Hand Reservoir instead of climbing higher.   We will take turns breaking trail once we leave Left Hand Reservoir Road.  I expect Left Hand Reservoir Road will be tracked as this is a popular trail so no worries there.
