New & Prospective Member Hike – Ruby Wash

This loop hike explores the rugged beauty of Red Mountain Open Space on a hike through one of northern Colorado’s most unusual landscapes. Our route takes us through Ruby Wash and the surrounding terrain, we’ll wander among striking red sandstone formations, explore winding washes and rolling hills, and enjoy expansive views across the open grasslands toward the distant mountains. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the scenery, discover the area’s distinctive natural features, and share the camaraderie of hiking together. For new and prospective members, it’s also a chance to get acquainted with fellow outdoor enthusiasts and learn a little about the club while exploring this remarkable corner of Colorado. We'll find a comfortable spot for snack/lunch. Our pace will be comfortable for all group members. Overall this hike is ~5 miles and ~550 ft elevation gain.

Orientation hike for new and prospective members. Instruction will include 10 essentials, Leave no trace principles, hiking pace, risk management, and an overview of the CMC.

Carpool Place & Time: We will meet at King Soopers (NW corner) N College Ave at 7:30 AM, and depart at 7:45 AM (King Soopers Marketplace - Google Maps)
