I plan to alpine ski in Crested Butte on 1/27, Monarch on 1/28, and to XC ski on 1/29. We will all lodge in centrally located Gunnison, and gather for evening dining and entertainment (such game night or ice skating at Jorgensen Park). My suggested lodging options are: 1. Gunnison Inn at Dos Rios [https://www.thegunnisoninn.com/ ](https://www.thegunnisoninn.com/)or 2. Quality Inn [https://www.choicehotels.com/colorado/gunnison/quality-inn-hotels/co308]). The former is a little out of town (on the golf course), and has common areas for socializing. The latter is across the street from ice skating and walkable to restaurants.
(CB and Monarch currently have more & better snow coverage than Powderhorn, Ski Cooper or Sunlight. CB is on the Epic season pass, and Monarch on Powderhorn...bring your receipt).
Gunnison offers cheap accommodations & decent restaurants, and ice skating. Western States College offers a rec center and some cultural events. It is 38 minutes from Crested Butte and 45 minutes to Monarch.
