RMOTHG Trip – Mount Flora

This gorgeous 7 mile / 2000 ft elevation-gain hike includes climbing both Mount Flora and Colorado Mines Peak. Starting at Berthoud Pass (11,306' elevation) this almost-entirely-above treeline hike is noted for its wildflowers and expansive views of nearby peaks. Herds of elk are also not an infrequent sight here. On the way down we will add 0.5 miles and +195' hiking up towards Colorado Mines Peak and go down the road back to the trailhead.

A good rule of thumb when considering what to pack (especially for hiking above treeline): Bring what you would need to stay warm & dry if you sprained your ankle or twisted your knee up above treeline in a cold rain or hail storm and wouldn't be able to get down or be rescued for several hours.
