RMOTHG Trip – Stanley Mountain from the Berthoud Pass Trail West

We will most likely NOT summit Stanley Mountain as we will need to be down by noon. Make sure to read Leader Notes Below. We will start our hike at Berthoud Pass, climbing through a pretty high altitude forest. Views will begin to open up as we ascend a very steep but nicely engineered "switchback hill". Once on the top, we will hike up and down a rolling alpine landscape with beautiful views of Vasquez Peak, Engelmann Peak as well as distant views of the Indian Peaks and Rocky Mountain National Park.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.0
  • Elevation Gain: 1,620 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 12,460 ft
  • Pace: Casual Up, Moderate Down

We will most likely not be summiting Stanley as the weather does not look good, but we will have so many wonderful views you won't even miss it :) :) :)  If the weather improves between now and Wednesday we will continue hiking past noon and we may summit.  Please assess your fitness level, to make sure you are able to hike all 7.4 miles, +1,870' elevation gain at a highpoint of 12,526' if we do summit.

As usual, if smoke is in the forecast, I will cancel this hike.

Below is our proposed hike:
