Rock Climb – Colorado Mountain Club Basecamp

Skill review session at the CMC Basecamp Climbing Wall. Building and cleaning sport anchors will be the primary focus.

Important: this trip is not a class. Trip leaders will be available to provide feedback and demonstrations, however, you should have a baseline level of familiarity with the material below and are seeking practice in a controlled environment. Expect skill reviews to take place primarily on the ground and to work alongside other participants.

Participants will select the skills they want to review from the following:

How to create and use a personal anchor system (PAS)
Anchor basics (SERENE, ERNEST, NERDSS)
Building sport anchors (Quad, sliding X, magic X, masterpoint, etc.)
Cleaning sport anchors (through Mussy hooks, wide chains, narrow chains, rappel to clean)
Knots: bowline, bowline with a bight, munter hitch, clove hitch, BHK, alpine butterfly, double/triple barrel knot
Building top-rope anchors with static line (Joshua Tree anchor)

Aside from climbing ropes, you must have your own gear for this session. Contact the trip leader with any questions or concerns.

Meet at the CMC Basecamp Climbing Wall:

Session will be held from 6:30-8:30 pm.

You do not need to arrive at the start time, nor is it required to stay the entire length of the session. Please message the trip leader if you plan or expect to be late.
