For all climbers: (equivalent of CMC’s Basic Rock course)

There is no expectation to lead climb or lead belay. Trip leaders will lead and set up top ropes that the group will use.
If you would like to lead climb, you may do so under the following circumstances:
- Have completed the CMC’s Gym-to-Crag/Intro to Sport Climbing course (or equivalent experience)
- You may lead-belay if you are gym-certified (Movement, Ubergrippen, etc.) to lead.
- If you are lead climbing, you must be familiar with safely cleaning a sport anchor in all the following scenarios without requiring instruction or feedback from the ground:
- Through mussy hooks
- Passing a bight through wide chains
- Passing the rope through narrow chains where a bight is too wide to pass
- No skipping bolts.
- You may set a top rope anchor on a route if you present the anchor to a trip leader to inspect prior to climbing.
Meet at Pine Valley Ranch Park/Narrow Gauge Trail at 4:00pm and hike in together. You may meet the group later at the crag, please just communicate your plans to the trip leader by the day before the climb.
We will climb until dusk or the group decides it is satisfied with the climbing.

“From the Denver area, follow Highway 285 south to the traffic light at Pine Junction, where a sign points left to Pine Valley Ranch Park. (This is about a mile past the turn to Staunton State Park). Turn left (south) onto Pine Valley Road and follow it for about 6 winding miles. Turn right onto Crystal Lake Road (sign just after a sharp left curve points right for the park) and follow it to its end at the park entrance.”
The approach to the crag is a short ~0.5 mi hike from the parking lot (see Mountain Project link for details).
