This trip is to practice scrambling after daylight with headlamp. The purpose of the trip is to concentrate on scrambling techniques with limited visibility and requires some scrambling experience or graduation from the scrambling school (however it is not related to the scrambling school). This trip does not intend to reach a certain point and is NOT a speed-climbing activity, but it provides a safe and controlled scrambling practice with possible instruction.

Scrambling will be on one or two ascending boulder fields, not harder than low third class, both up and down entirely by headlamp.

If you have questions or not sure whether the trip is for you, feel free to contact Gyorgy on doktorbuboka@gmail.com or leave message on 303-570-0443.

Required Equipment

Required Equipment

To bring:

A headlamp with spare batteries and possibly a secondary light source (another headlamp or flashlight).

High top boots are required. Approach shoes or sneakers are not allowed ... and neither flip flops. Boulders could move and there are holes in between, so ankle support and protection are very important.

Helmet is also required and a pair of gloves might protect hands from cold and sharp rocks; there will be quite a bit of rock-touching.

Bring a warmer top and rain/wind proof jacket. Temperature drops at night and there could be some wind or slight rain.

Also bring something to drink, but there will be no break for food. Make sure you ate before coming to the trip.

You can bring hiking poles for the approach, however those will not be used when scrambling. They have to be collapsible and put inside or attached to your backpack such that they don't limit your movement.
