This trip will require scrambling on boulders and some loose rocks.  Please only sign up for this trip if you are comfortable with scrambling.

Previously, I scheduled this trip in September 2025.  Due to concerns about weather and lightning, we did not attempt to climb Leon Peak on that trip.  Instead we hiked on a trail to Sissy Reservoir, and on the Leon Lake Trail.  We had great views of Lean Peak.

Let's try again to scramble to the summit of Leon Peak!

Meet at the Grand Mesa Visitor Center near Island Lake at 9:00 AM. Carpool to
the Weir and Johnson Campground. Trailhead is near the campground.
