This is an introductory scrambling trip. A helmet is encouraged. We will hike to the base of Horsetooth mountain and scramble to the summit of the South Tooth. This goes at about class 2 in difficulty but depending on the ability of the group and time we may choose more difficult lines requiring some use of hands which would put this in the 2+ range. Depending on time and energy, we will also tag the North Tooth (also class 2+) and return to make a loop to make things interesting.
We will meet in the east end of the parking lot of JJ's (NW corner of Taft Hill Rd. and 38E) at 4:30 PM and carpool to Horsetooth Mountain Space trailhead from there. All drivers will require a Larimer County parking tag.
Required Equipment
A climbing helmet is highly encouraged. A headlamp is required with backup or extra batteries! Comfortable footwear with some grip, mountaineering boots, trail runners, or approach shoes.
