- Road rough but passable

The final 2 miles of road to Urad Lake SWA is very rough/potholes. But passable with patience and a vehicle with ground clearance. The hike from the parking lot to the lake is .25 miles on a steep road (road is closed to vehicle traffic.). Then there is a trail around the lake to find a spot to fish. This trail is relatively flat and well crafted hiking trail.
CMC Fly Fishers experienced a wonderful Colorado fall day at Urad Lake State Wildlife Area. Eric, Paul, Rob, John and Kurt enjoyed the warm mild weather, fall gold colors and of course some good fishing. Everyone caught fish and Rob even caught his first Tiger trout (hybrid Brown & Brook trout).
Water temperature was 51 and air temperature started at 40 and climbed to a high of low 60s. A wonderful day with some great CMC members. Thank you for joining! Great to meet everyone and enjoy good conversation and fishing companionship.
We even had a visit from a Bald Eagle trying his talons at some fishing too.
