Day Expeditions - Snowshoeing
Learn what it takes to be a mountaineer and explore the winter ecosystems of Colorado! Join the Colorado Mountain Club Youth Education Program for one day or a whole week of adventure! We will be rock climbing indoors & outdoors, ice skating, sledding, snow shoeing, and more! Each day will have a different theme and itinerary. Sign up for one day or multiple days. No previous experience required.

- Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm
- Location: Each Day-Expedition will start from the Colorado Mountain Club (15605 West 32nd Ave, Golden, CO, 80401). Snowshoeing will take place at Brainard Lake Recreation Area - transportation from the club to all field locations is provided. Field sites subject to change.
- Cost: CMC Family Members - $125/1-Day, Non-Members -$135/1-Days. CMC Members with a Family Membership receive $10 off. Learn about all the benefits of becoming a CMC member.
- Financial Assistance: AT CMC, WE BELIEVE THE OUTDOORS ARE FOR ALL. If you need financial assistance for our camps, click here to apply! If you would like to set up a payment plan to finance your next adventure, email us at youth@cmc.org.
- Weather Policies: In the case of severe weather, temperatures below zero degrees Fahrenheit and snowstorms, CMC reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any class or program. Programs canceled due to weather will receive a full refund.
- Please note, if you have an individual membership and wish to sign up your child, you will need to create a separate guest account with a different email. You can also choose to upgrade your individual membership to a family membership to be able to register your child on your account and receive the discount.
- Course fees include instruction, shared group gear (ex: compasses), snowshoes, transportation from the CMC to/from field locations, snacks, and permit fees.
- Refund/cancellation policy: After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with more details and information about the camp. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
This program has no scheduled activities.
Participant Packing List:
If you are unable to bring any of the items below, please let us know. CMC does have a few extra items that we are happy to loan out for the camp.
- Clothes (comfortable warm clothing for snowshoeing):
- Loose fitting water proof pants or long underwear or hiking pants with waterproof snow pants or rain pants over them
- Long sleeve shirt or base layer
- Heavy Winter Jacket
- Closed-toed, water proof sturdy boots
- Extra pair of socks (cotton not recommended)
- Sweater and/or warm layer
- Sunglasses
- Warm hat and gloves
- Sunscreen and lip balm
- Water bottle
- Day Backpack large enough to carry all personal items on this list
- Personal medications (inhaler, EPI pen, etc.) – please have all containers and bottles labeled and also listed on the medical forms
- Camera (optional)
CMC will provide:
- Snack
- Snowshoes
- Permits
- Transportation to and from Golden to Field Site
- Day backpacks if needed
- Extra clothing/gear if needed
