Hessie Trailhead

Hessie Trailhead is a popular access point to USFS lands including Indian Peaks Wilderness, Devils's Thumb, Lost Lake, King Lake, Woodland Lake, and Diamond Lake trails.

IPW restrictions for permits, parking, and entry vary by season and trailhead. Go here for current information.  Indian Peaks Wilderness requires an organized group permit and an overnight/camping permit any time of the year, available at recreation.gov for a fee.

All the trails and destinations from this trailhead are very popular, mostly during the summer and early fall, so the there is limited parking along the road at the trailhead, between signs.  During these times  there is a free 4.2 mile shuttle service from Nederland High School, 597 Co Hwy 130, Nederland, CO 80466,
