Please see the Workshop registration page for details including Classroom Session topics and Field Day details.

We will likely ski from one of the trailheads downhill and east of the top of Cameron Pass, location to be determined based on snow conditions and weather forecast.  Participants must attend the Classroom Session to join one of the optional Field Days.

See Required Gear section for what to bring on the Field Day, this will also be discussed during the Classroom Session.

The meeting time and place will be communicated to participants a few days before the trip date.  Expect to meet and leave northern Fort Collins about 7 am for the ~90 minute drive.

Required Equipment

For the field day, we will be focusing on skiing with Alpine Touring equipment (aka Randonee). We can help you find rental gear from local shops.  If you have solid telemark experience and gear, you may use that. However, our field day terrain is not well-suited for split-boards.

  • Backcountry skis with compatible bindings, boots, and full-length climbing skins.
  • Ski poles with snow baskets.
  • Helmet.
  • Eye protection (ski goggles or sunglasses; if sunglasses we recommend they be secured with a strap).
  • Ten essentials.
  • Appropriate winter pack and clothing layers.  We will be discussing details during the classroom session.
