Please do not sign up without leader permission as you're name will be removed. We do need to do a pace of about 1500ft/hr to avoid the group getting cold. (trip completed in 5 hrs or less).
Snowshoes and MicoSpikes or equivalent are a MUST. Please ensure you have a plan as to how the snowshoes will strap efficiently on your pack and know how to use your particular snowshoes prior to the trip. All snow shoes must be appropriate for the trip - no trail rated snowshoes (Costco). 10 essentials including a fully stocked 1st aid kit. (the leader will not be carrying group extra clothing or a shelter large enough to accommodate all participants).
Dress appropriately at the start of the hike so that you will be relatively comfortable until stops are made for clothing adjustments. All breaks WILL BE taken as a group to avoid multiple delays.
Any MEDICAL conditions you may have that might IMPACT the group, please discuss with the leader PRIOR to the day of the trip. Should you need to cancel your spot on this trip after the trip has closed, please contact the leader by txt. (no calls).
Carpool arrangements are the sole responsibility of the hike participants and are to be arranged by the participants. All participants contact information is available on the Roster, please reach out to them. I ask that you respond to emails from participants regarding carpooling. (suggested carpool location/ time -Front Range meeting location Wooly Mammoth Lot Exit 259, Section BB, across from the gas station at 0715 hrs ).
Would love to have you on the hike if it is a good fit for you, hence the sign up with leader. Please email a list of hikes that you have completed, in the last month, of similar length and difficulty and with which CMC leaders. As this is a snowshoe and we will be breaking trail, consider the elevation gain and distance a 50% more challenging than summer time. All participants will be EXPECTED to break trail for equal distance (3 inch indent on snow dows not count as breaking trail).
The leader will meet the group in the mountains at 8 am. Location TBD (depends on car shuttle).
Required Equipment
Microspikes, snowshoes, hiking poles - with snow baskets. Cold weather gear and extra clothing. Consider gaiters. All participants will be expected to down load the track onto a phone or gps device. Gpx track will be sent about 24 hrs prior to the trip along with final information/weather. Trail head locations should you be unfamiliar with them are available on a google search.
