Backcountry Skiing/Splitboarding – Monarch Pass

The distance of the trip will depend on the group, but plan on 6 miles and 2,000-3,000' vertical gain. We will do a ski tour off Monarch Pass and hopefully find some powder turns. The exact location will be determined by snow and weather conditions. Skill requirments: You must be an expert skier able to descend black diamond terrain in any condition. Recent, within the past five years, completion of an AIARE Level 1 or Companion Rescue avalanche course is required. Gear required: AT skis, splitboard, or telemark skis with skins are required. Avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel also required. 10 essentials and proper clothing for a full day of touring are required. Ski helmets are strongly encourages.
