Tuesday morning we will be snowshoeing the old logging road that runs behind Lake Isabel near Rye. It's a popular local snowshoe route. I'm hoping others have already broken in the trail. We can go as far as we want. The maps on AllTrails, and CoTrex show a jeep road that takes off to the right near the base of the Snowslide TH. I am not sure that it's the same. If it is, according to the map, it goes 3-1/4 miles with a 1,540' elevation gain. I've never gone that far. We’ve always turned around before then.
We will meet at the Pueblo City Park pool (221 S Parkside Lane, Pueblo) at 9AM for carpooling. We'll have an hour drive to get there. Others are welcome to meet us at the parking lot for the Snowslide trail at 10AM. The weather prediction is for cold, clear skies, no wind. We can snowshoe for an hour, or two, then turn around.
Hike begins at the trailhead.
