The Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Loop is a 12-mile loop that combines Rich, Rough, and Tumbling Creeks. The trail system is moderate-to-challenging in difficulty with several significant stream crossings. The area is known for its beautiful wildflowers and early morning sunrises.

Event restricted to the CMC Backpacking Section members. Plan for early starts each day in order to mitigate risk of monsoon rainstorms. Food storage security to prevent bears and other wildlife from interfering with the trip. I recommend that all participants follow the "Routes & Places" to read additional trip details.
The trip pace is designed to embrace everyone's comfort level. We'll slow down on steep ascents and stream crossings. We'll speed up on the flats and trail descents. Let's enjoy the views by taking a thoughtful pace.
Ample water is available throughout the trip. Take notice of significant water crossing activities.
MEET ON FRIDAY, August 29, 2025, 6:30AM at RTD Light Rail Station, Parking Garage-Top Level, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80401. Depart by 6:45AM with time for a rest stop coffee break while traveling to the trailhead.
