Climb – Garden of the Gods
This is a skills test for experienced climbers to waiver out of PPG BMS Basic/Intermediate Rock Climbing to gain access to trips and advanced classes. This is NOT a skills refresher. We expect you to show up and demonstrate proficiency in all of the skills we teach in our PPG BMS Basic/Intermediate Rock Climbing Class.

You’ll be expected to demonstrate:
- Basic climbing knots
- How to use a climbing helmet, harness, and belay device
- How to tie into the rope
- How to top rope belay using Pull-Brake-Under-Slide (PBUS) method
- How to use climbing commands
- How to rappel
- How to ascend/descend a rope with a prusik
- How to coil a climbing rope
Detailed evaluation checklist will be sent to participants. Must also have Wilderness Trekking School (WTS) or equiv badge (i.e. Wilderness Fundamentals) in place.
We will meet 9:00am at (location TBD in west Colorado Springs); the Leader will let you know where to meet and which crag we will be based at.
Required Equipment
Required Equipment: Climbing helmet, harness, 4 locking carabiners, PAS, 2 Prusik cords, sling, and an ATC. Participants will be expected to bring a climbing dynamic rope (50 or 60m, or longer) and anchor to climb/rappel on (please coordinate with leader if this isn't something in your gear).
And, bring your 10 essentials.
