Conservation – Barr Camp via Barr Trail

Help Rocky Mtn Field Institute (RMFI) move tools for a season of work on Barr Trl. You'll ride the COG 6 mi's to Mtn View Siding, then help carry tools and equipment 1.5 mi's. Hike back to Barr TH. This is a chance to Give Back to Barr Trl.

Cog- We will be taking the Cog up to the Mt View trailhead, which will negate the 6 miles of uphill on Barr Trail. Thank you Cog!

Arrive at Mt View Trailhead- We will disembark the cog, pack up backpacks, cache haulers, and make the 1.5-mile hike to around the intersection with Barr Trail with weight (this may need to be done twice, depending on how much can be moved in one trip. Expect between 45-60 pounds; there are no pace expectations. 

Once all the gear has been moved to the Barr Trail intersection, there is no more heavy lifting left for the day.  When all gear has been moved you are on your own to hike back down approx. 6 mi's to Barr TH.  There are 2 options to get to your car, take the free shuttle or continue to hike about 1.5 mi's to the P/Lot.

You will need to sign up w/CMC and also RMFI.  Read their writeup closely.

Please park and meet RMFI staff at the Hiawatha Gardens parking lot (your parking will be paid for for the day) - Manitou Hiawatha Gardens Parking and Shuttle  at 6:15am.  RMFI will furnish a ride to the COG Depot.  A free parking pass will be furnished in the P/Lot.

7:00 am SHARP - The COG will depart; there is no leeway here. They leave at 7am on the dot.

A large capacity backpack or you may be carrying containers.  Plenty of water, snacks, a lunch and gloves.  You may wear shorts on these move in's.  Sun protection.
