Hiking – Button Rock Trailhead

Button Rock Preserve loop hike along Sleepy Lion trail to Ralph Price Reservoir through forest canyon, along N. St. Vrain Creek, and with wonderful views of Longs and Twin Sisters Peaks.

We will enjoy a 6-mile, 900' gain loop hike in the Button Rock Preserve as we ascend through a forest canyon and meadow along the Sleepy Lion trail to the pretty Ralph Price Reservoir and dam, with pretty views of Longs Peak and Twin Sisters.  We will have our lunch here before beginning to descend along the North St. Vrain Creek and past the Longmont Reservoir to the TH.  Please bring your essentials, water, lunch, raingear, and sturdy hiking boots.  Rideshare will depend upon carpool distances.

Depending upon participants, there may be 3 meeting places:  1) JJ's Corner Store, 4015 S. Taft Hill Rd, Ft. Collins (NE edge) at 7:45 a.m.; 2) JAX, 2665 W. Eisenhower, Loveland (SE edge of lot) at 8:00 a.m.; 3) Panda Express lot, 2524 Main St., Longmont at 8:30 a.m.  We will carpool to the Button Rock Preserve TH (16 miles) west of Lyons off of Hwy. 36 on Co.Rd. 80.
