Hiking – Gore Range Trail

A challenging one-way hike from Copper to Frisco with 3000’ of elevation gain over a 12 mile hike, and a high point of 11,900’. The hike follows the Continental Divide Trail and Gore range trail in the Eagles Nest Wilderness area, and has wonderful views of 13ers and alpine lakes.

This is a wonderful one-way hike that has it all - hiking through trees, by lakes, a section above treeline, and the chance to see waterfalls on 10 Mile Creek. It's also not as difficult as it appears, as the elevation gains are separated by downhill or flat sections, and there is a net loss of elevation from the starting point to the finish.

This will be a moderately paced hike:  1.5 to 2 mph.  Plan on hiking this pace, as we will stick together as a group.

This hike crosses a stream that typically runs high in the spring, and I suggest bringing a pair of water sandals such as Tevas.  Most likely, the stream crossing will be low this year, but it is best to be prepared.

Meet at Wooly Mammoth Section DD at 6:00 am for a 6:15 am departure.  There will be a rest stop at the Georgetown Visitor Center.
