Trip
Hiking – Greyrock Mountain TH
This is NOT a summit of Greyrock Mountain. We will hike to Livermore Mountain via Greyrock and Hewlett Gulch trailheads (with a short shuttle). Enjoy great views of the foothills and challenging off-trail map-and-compass navigation on this DIFFICULT hike to a little-visited peak north of Greyrock. 13 miles (incl. 8+ miles off trail) and 4000 ft elevation gain.

This will be a FULL day of DIFFICULT hiking, approximately 13 miles and 4000 ft of elevation gain. At least 8 miles will be off trail which makes this even more challenging than the mileage suggests. We will navigate using map and compass and route-finding skills, NOT GPS, which will make the day even longer. Plan to leave before dawn and possibly return after dark.
There may be some 3rd class scrambling involved, but we will avoid any terrain with significant exposure.
Expect a moderate pace with minimal stops.
Priority will be given to members of the Northern Colorado group--you may email the trip leader BEFORE the "registration opens" date to join the trip.
Meeting time and place TBD. Expect a pre-dawn departure.
Required Equipment
Compass (map will be provided). Ten essentials, headlamps. Trekking poles and gaiters are recommended.
