Hiking – Kilpacker TH - Navajo-Kilpacker Loop

Celebrate 250/150 without the 14er crowds but views of the Wilson group! The Kilpacker Basin Trail is located in the Lizard Head Wilderness of the San Juan National Forest in southwest Colorado. Situated between Rico and Telluride, the trail is famous for providing scenic access to alpine basins.

To reach the Kilpacker Trailhead, head south from Telluride on CO-145 to Lizard Head Pass, then continue south for 5.5 miles to turn right onto Forest Road 535 (Dunton Road).  Drive approximately 5 miles on the dirt road to reach the signed trailhead parking lot on your right.  The trailhead sits at an elevation of about 10,200 feet.

From Rico:  Drive north on CO-145 N for 5.7 miles.  Turn left onto Forest Road 535 (Dunton Road).  Drive 5.1 miles on the dirt road; the trailhead is on your right.

Anne will be bringing her lil leashed dog.

A small group of us will be camping in the area.  There is very poor, in any, cell service.  Please meet at the trailhead by 8:30 A.M.
