Hiking – Mount Tileston - RMNP

Mount Tileston is a wonderful peak located in the Mummy Range. Though not exceptionally high, it has commanding views of Mummy Mountain's jagged face and 360 degree panoramic views of RMNP. Option may be to add Pott's Puddle.

This will be a mostly on trail hike to Mount Tileston. However, there will be a fair bit of  off trail bushwhacking involved when we leave the trail for our ascent to the summit of Mount Tileston.

The plan will be to begin the hike at the Lawn Lake TH and follow the Lawn Lake Trail about 5.5 miles (2,400 ft) to the Lawn Lake flood scar. At that point we will leave the trail and bushwhack our way east up the flank of Mount Tileston to a ridge. We will follow the ridge about 0.7 miles (500 ft) to the summit of Mount Tileston.

An option, prior to final approach to the summit would be a short hike 0.25 mile hike to Pott's Puddle. Then continue to the summit of Mount Tileston.

Our return would be to bushwhack 0.5 mile (-754ft) down the west northwest flank of Mount Tileston and join the Lawn Lake Trail back to the trailhead.

This trip is not technically difficult. What makes it a challenging trip is the length of the trip 11.2 miles, the elevation gain 3,051 feet and the off trail bushwhacking and route finding.

This is a NOCO CMC lead trip. So NOCO CMC members will be given first chance to sign up for this trip through July 1. Non NOCO CMC members will be waitlisted until July 1. After July 1 the trip will be open to all qualified members.

We will meet on the NW corner of Target parking lot, College & Troutman. Let's meet at 6am and leave promptly at 6:10am. Ride share will be $10 per person paid to the drivers.
