Here's a chance to help cheer on the participants in both the Ascent & Marathon, 9 mi's up the trail. From the meetup location, the 4 WhlDrive Club will drive volunteers to the top of Pikes Peak, 14,115 ft. You will then hike down 3 mi’s to the A-Frame (AF) at 11,500 ft. We will start setting up the water system to be ready for the Sat morning arrival of the Ascent runners. We will spend Fri & Sat night tent camping near the AF, this can be amazing looking down on the city lights. Sunday, Sept 22, furnish refreshments to the Marathon runners, after race is complete, approx. 2 pm. Hike down Barr Trl, brief stop at Barr Camp then on to Bobs Rd the pickup point, about 4.5 mi hike, to ride back to Manitou Spgs. (Note the hike down Pikes Pk is steep and can be slippery in inclement weather, micro-spikes may be helpful.)
Weather at elevation can quickly change: Here’s a link for the weather in the AF area: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-105.00045776367188&lat=38.84764051372039
In addition to signing up here, you must also sign up on the Pikes Pk Ascent & Marathon web, link below, for "A-Frame Aid / Water Station", scroll up from the point of entry and volunteer.
