Please join me for an easy ~3 mile, 1.4 mile out and back, hike along the Arkansas River in the Pueblo Reservoir, Sunday, January 11. If the trails are dry, we will follow dirt path along the river, instead of the cement path further in. Mileage should be the same, elevation change is only about 22 ft. The pace will be very casual taking time to listen to the river, look for birds, and just enjoy the scenery. Plan lunch at the far point picnic tables, 1.4 miles in. This is a dog friendly hike as long as kept on leash as Sundays are busy with people fishing, biking, hiking, and other activities. The leader will not have her dog. There should be waterfowl and other birds to see and hear. It is currently predicted to be sunny, 50 degrees with light winds, but that could change.
Please register on CMC.org by Saturday, January 10 at 5pm. Or contact the leader, Sue Greer via text at 214-552-9480. New and/or prospective members, please contact Sue Greer.
Meet at the Pueblo Reservoir Trailhead at 10:30 am for a prompt start and an easy stroll along the river. This is the parking lot nearest the vault toilets and the pavilion for the Anticline pond.
Required Equipment
Dress for the weather, in layers. Bring water, snacks, lunch as desired. A weather and trail condition update will be provided the night before. This hike does require entry into the Pueblo Reservoir, so if you do not have a park pass, you will need to get a day pass at an entry station.
